While working at The Washington Post he was called by Pete to manage his campaign and this is where Mike entered politics.
After Pete became Mayor in 2011 he hired Mike as the chief of staff.
After two years in 2013, Mike left the position and enrolled in a graduate course at the Paris Institute of Political Studies from 2013 until 2015. He also holds a degree in history from Notre Dame which he completed in 2005.
After returning from Paris he joined 270 Strategies a digital strategy firm as Vice President.
Mike is married and has one son named Kelin Schmuhl. When not on campaign work he spends time with his son playing cart games, fishing, and skying in the snow.
